Compression Stocking 101

Compression Stockings
Learn about the different styles and strengths of compression stockings, how to size them, and who should be wearing them. Let's dive in!

Compression stockings are specialized garments designed to apply pressure to the legs, ankles, and feet, with the highest pressure at the ankle gradually decreasing towards the top of the stocking. These stockings are often used to improve circulation and manage various medical conditions. Here's how compression stockings can help patients: improved blood circulation, prevention of blood clots, reduced swelling and edema, relief of symptoms of varicose veins, support during pregnancy, improved athletic performance and recovery, and post-surgical support.

It's essential for patients to consult with a healthcare professional, such as a physician or a certified compression garment fitter, before using compression stockings, as proper fitting and selection of compression level are critical for optimal effectiveness and comfort.
